Join Heather Roche for a two-week intensive class designed to give you structured guidance on improving your intonation on the clarinet!
What to Expect:
- đ Guided Exercises: You will have video lessons from me with exercises for working on improving your intonation in an intuitive and natural way. Youâll learn more about the tendencies of your individual instrument and how to adjust them.
- đ¶ Expert Guidance: Led by Heather Roche, Head of Clarinet at tonebase, these sessions offer a unique insight into the tools and concepts that working clarinetists rely on every single day to play with a great sound and good intonation.
- đ€ Community Interaction: Share your experiences, receive feedback from peers and your instructor, and engage in a supportive community of fellow clarinet lovers.
Who Should Attend:
This course is tailored for a clarinetist at any level looking for some structure and help in working on their intonation. It is never too early to start working on improving your intonation and weâre going to do so in a way that helps to open your ears and feel relaxed about playing in tune.
What is Covered:
Weâll start with some easy listening and playing exercises in the first week, and in the second week weâll work on understanding the tendencies of our instrument and what to do about them.
What youâll need:
All youâll need to participate is your clarinet and a tuner or tuning app that can play drones - I love Tonal Energy, which you can download onto your phone and costs $3.99. If you want to get a head start it might be helpful to watch Yoonah Kimâs wonderful course on tuning on tonebase. Weâll be building on the information that she shares there.

Hi everyone - I just noticed that the google forms link was sending you to a signup for the past two week intensive, sorry about that! If you signed up already, I've moved your signup to the right spreadsheet so you will get an e-mail with the start of the two week intensive, you don't need to sign up again, but I've also fixed the form.
