Pineapple Rag

Alright I'm gonna kick it off with the closest thing to classical music that I play - ragtime! :D

Here are the first two strains of Joplin's "Pineapple Rag". I'm at about 90% of goal speed here. There are two more strains in the tune, and I want to get them all up to goal speed and make sure the transitions between them are clean and clear.

Any tips are always appreciated. Hopefully the sound quality is better here - I moved back from the mic a bit. It's still a bit more garbled than it sounds in person.

this sounds fantastic!! You've got such a great sound and I love a bit of ragtime :)

Have you watched Kim Luevano's hand position course? You might find your technique gets a little more fluent if you can work on bringing your wrists closer to the clarinet so that your fingers are a bit more curved (she's got some great exercises for how to work on that in her course!)

I've watched some of it, but I'll make sure to pay attention for those parts. Thank you!

Here are the next two strains. Still at 90% tempo, and focusing on keeping my arms closer to my body. I don't know why I always want to be a chicken, but I do.

ALSO in case anyone is having the same issues - newer Android phones have an option in their video settings called "Audio zoom" which apparently tries to focus on the main subject and reduce background noise. It wreaks havoc with this kind of recording, constantly changing the gain of the mic. Turning it off seems to have solved that problem.

Next goal: the whole piece at tempo, no stopping.
