Finger Dexterity Challenge - Week Two!

Unless you've decided to work through a different section of the 417 studies (in case you've already learned the ones in C major), this week we're going to be working on Studies 5-8.

You should have received from me a downloadable PDF of all of Book 1, but if you didn't receive that (maybe you didn't sign up originally) just post below and I'll send it to you!

Objectives for the Week (no surprise here but the objectives remain the same for every week of this challenge!)

1. Watch the lesson above.

2. Practice your four studies using your metronome and maybe using a timer to work through drilled repetitions (set your timer for 5 minutes and do as many repetitions you can, then sit for 30 seconds in silence)

3. Upload a video to your favourite platform (i.e., YouTube or Vimeo) and post it here by Sunday to share your progress

4. Cheer on your fellow clarinetists as they learn their studies!

    Hi @HEATHER!

With hope you can still consider my submission, I send you week 2 video.

Sorry for the delay. I am not finding the time or headspace to be more productive, but still trying.

Hi Marcelo! Being late is no problem, I'm just glad you finished this week - I'm really enjoying your video edits with the numbers of each study, by the way. And you've done a great job on these studies!

I think now that you've got these under your fingers, it's time to go back and turn the metronome way down and practice them again slowly - working out the kinks in your finger connections and improving the legato. Especially on the first one, it's really hard to get a good connection between registers so going back now that you can play it up to speed and really focusing on legato as much as possible (even though your tongue is interrupting and helping with the leaps, your air flow should be nice and strong all the way through)

I actually like this method for practicing: get it up nice and fast and then slow down again and really watch for those solid connections...
