Study Intensive: Cavallini Etude No. 2 (Info and Sign up!)

It is my goal in the community to give you opportunities to practice and get feedback on all the materials that make a good clarinetist: we have our monthly technical challenges, our Repertoire Study Group and now in the second half of each month we’re going to have a Study Intensive. I’ll pick a different study from the many, many wonderful books of clarinet studies available and that will become our focus for those two weeks.

For this month’s Etude Intensive in the Community we are learning an etude from the Cavallini Caprices, a wonderful series of concert etudes akin to Paganini’s Caprices for violin. The second etude challenges us with arpeggios that cross back and forth over the break, plenty of pinky finger gymnastics and a good articulation workout. But it’s also a tuneful, musical etude, extremely idiomatic to the clarinet: light and playful and sure to delight.

Join us for two weeks of work on this study - we’ll dedicate the first week to page 1 and the second week to page 2 and on October 22 I’ll also present a livestream on how best to practice the whole etude.

I'm new here and this is what I see on my screen. Can you let me know which time zone 11AM is for?

Hi M - if things are working correctly then that should be for your time zone (in this case it's for Pacific Time - is that your time zone?)
