Feel a bit panicked when you see something new on the stand? You’re not alone—and the good news is, sight-reading is a skill you can improve with simple, focused practice.

This livestream is  part one in a new monthly series we're going to be running on tonebase clarinet, designed for players who want to build confidence reading new music more fluently. We’ll break down the essentials of smart sight-reading and every month we'll get together and practice sight-reading exercises.

The British have a well-earned reputation for being the best sightreaders in the world, so join me, Heather Roche, as I've been studying and working in Britain for the last 20 years, learning their secrets!

Have your clarinet at the ready so that you can practice along with me! This workshop is aimed at players in tonebase levels 4+.

Looking forward to seeing some of you later at today's livestream - please do bring your clarinet, this is going to be very hand's on. I think the hardest thing about improving your sight reading is having opportunities where you are under a little bit of pressure to keep going (and not just stop and start again) - so come sight-read alongside me. We're just going to see how many exercises we can do in 50 minutes!
